Today, the Rotary Club of Odessa paid a visit to OPD’s New Training Facility. Among those attending was Craig Van Amburgh, Public Relations Chair of the Odessa Rotary Club. He’s pictured here with Deputy Chief Robert Doporto who also spoke to the group.
We asked Craig what he learned about OPD. He said, “I was pleasantly surprised to see the extreme high quality of the facility and its ability to train law enforcement officers all over West Texas. It’s also good to see that it contributes to our local economy. Law enforcement officers from all over the nation now come to train in Odessa and there’s a trickle effect. They stay in our hotels and eat at our local restaurants generating revenue for our local economy. I'm confident that our Odessa Police Department has excellent officer training, top-notch technology and facilities, and a stringent dedication in making sure that all Odessans are safe."
We'll be posting more pictures from the tour in the near future. If you or your group want to learn more about the Odessa Police Department, contact PR Manager Monica Quintero at mquintero@odessa-tx.gov. We offer a variety of programs.
