Chief of Police, Mike Gerke, proudly announces the induction of seven new police officers into the Odessa Police Department. The Odessa Police Academy 22nd Session Graduation Ceremony took place on July 23, 2021 at the Odessa Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.
Officer Jose Alejandro Becerra: Ofc. Becerra is 28 years of age and was born in Laredo, Texas. He was raised in Juarez and El Paso, Texas and graduated from Del Valle High School in El Paso, Texas. He has an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from San Antonio College. Ofc. Becerra began his career with the Odessa Police Department on November 9, 2020.
Officer Miguel Angel Guerrero: Ofc. Guerrero is 24 years of age and was born in Matamoros, Tamailipas, Mexico and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from Veterans Memorial High School in Brownsville, Texas. Ofc. Guerrero began his career with the Odessa Police Department on November 2, 2020.
Officer Katelyn Faith Hogan: Ofc. Hogan is 23 years of age. She was born in Odessa, Texas and raised in Monahans, Texas. Ofc. Hogan graduated from Monahans High School. She began her career with the Odessa Police Department on December 21, 2020.
Officer Taylor Daniel Martin: Ofc. Martin is 21 years of age and was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. Ofc. Martin began his career with the Odessa Police Department on August 6, 2018. Ofc. Martin is attending Odessa College to obtain his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
Officer Nick Daniel Valverde: Ofc. Valverde is 27 years of age, born in West Covina, California, and raised in Azusa, California where he graduated from Azusa High School. He began his career with the Odessa Police Department on January 4, 2021.
Officer Eric William Whitaker: Ofc. Whitaker is 38 years of age, was born in Huntsville, Texas, and raised in Normangee, Texas where he graduated from Normangee High School. He began his career with the Odessa Police Department on October 8, 2020.
Officer Mario Zubiate: Ofc. Zubiate is 28 years of age, born and raised in Odessa, Texas and is a graduate of Odessa High School. He began his career with the Odessa Police Department on December 7, 2020.
