[ARCHIVED] 2 Arrests Made in Connection to Theft/Forgery Investigation

Odessa Police have made 2 arrests in connection to a Theft/Forgery investigation. Christopher Pattan Giles Jr., 45 years of age, has been charged with Theft of Property “3rd Degree Felony” and Mario Marcus Costa Jr., 38 years of age, has been charged with Forgery “State Jail Felony”.

On April 28, 2021 at approximately 0821 hours, Odessa Police responded to the 8500 block of Cornell Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle. Investigation revealed that an unknown subject stole a black 2017 Cadillac CTSV. The suspect also took approximately $13,000 worth of property, including golf clubs and a checkbook.

On April 28, 2021 at approximately 2211 hours, Odessa Police responded to 2804 Andrews Highway (Kwik Kash) in reference to a forgery in progress. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a Mario Costa, who had attempted to cash a check belonging to the owner of the Cadillac CTSV. Costa was charged and arrested accordingly.

Through the course of the investigation Odessa Police located the stolen Cadillac CTSV in the area of Yukon and North County Road West. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, OPD detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence located in the 800 block of West Yukon. OPD detectives located narcotics, the stolen golf clubs and the rest of the stolen checks.

Investigation revealed that Christopher Giles had been in possession of the stolen Cadillac CTSV. Giles was charged and arrested accordingly. More stolen property was located in connection to auto burglaries from Cornell Avenue. More charges are anticipated and the investigation continues.

The Odessa Police Department would like to remind the public to please lock your doors and avoid leaving valuable items, weapons, spare keys, and personal documents inside your vehicles. Report all suspicious persons, suspicious vehicles, and suspicious activity.
