“My hope is that Hispanic Heritage Month can inspire individuals, especially young people, to take pride in their heritage and pursue their own goals and dreams while appreciating the accomplishments of those who came before them,” said Odessa City Council Member Mark Matta.
Mark has inspired many in Odessa, including young Micah from LBJ Elementary. Micah chose to interview and report on Mark. He also held a sign in the Councilman’s honor at the
school’s Hispanic Heritage Parade yesterday.
“I felt so flattered and honored!”
Most kids chose celebrities such as Selena, Jennifer Lopez, Jose Altuve, Cesar Chavez, and Roberto Clemente!
We feel Micah selected someone even more important! Someone working hard to make a difference right here in our wonderful city.
