A GoFundMe has been set up for an Odessa family.
We are learning new details about a deadly crash earlier this week that involved an Odessa mom and her daughter. We shared those heartbreaking images from the scene at US 385 and FM 1787.
The family reached out to us and shared their emotional story. They say the victims were Cynthia Abigail Fernandez and 8-year-old daughter Alexa. They also say Cynthia was 2 months pregnant.
“Our faith is strong, God will help us through this process,” said Iliana Cortez, Cynthia’s sister.
Cynthia leaves behind her husband of 8 years. They started dating when they were both in the 8th grade. The Odessa stay-at-home mom also leaves behind three children ages 14, 11, and 9 months old.
Iliana describes her sister as caring, loveable, and a woman with a humble heart. She described Alexa as the most helpful, little girl. Iliana says Alexa was always smiling and so positive. The little girl was on the cheer squad, reading club, and very involved in her church.
