A deadly accident in Odessa yesterday afternoon claims the life of a child.
Odessa Fire Rescue and DPS responded to a crash yesterday afternoon, killing two people, a woman, and a 9-year-old girl. A 7-month-old baby was rushed to the hospital. Here are images from the scene.
The crash happened Wednesday around 4:05 pm at US 385 and FM 1787. The preliminary information released by DPS shows that the driver of the Nissan Frontier disregarded a red light and struck a Mitsubishi Outlander. The driver has been
identified as 43-year-old Gerad Sandate of Odessa. DPS says Sandate fled the scene on foot and was later caught in the 400 block of East Sundown. He was charged with intoxication, manslaughter, and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death. Sandante was booked into the Ector County Jail.
Those in the Mitsubishi Outlander included two adults and two children. The driver of the Outlander and the 7-month-old child were treated and released from Medical Center Hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
