The 7th Annual Wonder Girls Camp is underway. It’s being hosted by the Crisis Center of West Texas and taking place at Crossroads Church.
"I am appreciative of any chance we receive to reach out to young girls and inspire them to seek leadership roles within the community. The event was a great way to motivate and empower these girls to break barriers,” said Odessa Police Officer Destiny
Jones.
The goal of the camp is to empower girls and show them careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), as well as male-dominated professions. On career day, OPD Officers and Crime Scene Techs were there giving them some insight into law enforcement and the high-tech equipment used to help fight crime.
The camp is for girls entering 5th through 8th grades and wraps up on Friday.
