[ARCHIVED] House Fire Ignites Passion for Job

Tandi and Bill Coppedge

Tandi and Bill CoppedgeChimney

When Tandi Coppedge was just 14 years old, her home burned down because of a chimney fire. She lost a beloved dog in that fire who was pregnant. As you can imagine, that tragedy always stuck with her.

Fast forward to a bit later in life, she married Bill Coppedge Jr. His mom, Linda Coppedge, owned a chimney-cleaning business that she started in 1984. The couple has now taken over. What happened to her as a young girl made her even more passionate about what they do today.

Bill and Tandi have been married 23 years and own “Bill Placer Chimney Sweep Hearth & Home Shop.” It’s been in Odessa for 39 years. They clean fireplaces, do lamp repairs, and dryer vent cleaning. They also say this is an excellent time to clean your chimney since they’re primarily used in the winter and fall. It’s recommended you also get a yearly inspection.

We asked about those built-in fireplaces where you just flip a switch. They say those can also be dangerous and to get them inspected at least once a year too.
