The dream was to play college football, but after a weightlifting incident, his offers were pulled. The incident happened when his hand slipped, and the weight fractured his Sternum. Tim Jakel started to find a different dream.
Tim is the Director of Development of the Boys and Girls Club. You will not find anyone more passionate about what he does. He has a long list of fundraising for nonprofits, such as Make-A-Wish, the American Cancer Association, and now the Boys and Girls Club. He joked that it truly was a full circle moment joining the Boys and Girls Club team as he was a club kid. Tim was open about the fact that it can get stressful when it comes to their big event, but seeing the community come together makes it worth it in the end.
"It's great to be able to give back to a place that has given so much to me."
He says how fulfilling it is to walk around one of the Clubs and see the kids smiling and having fun. Tim joked that if you have candy or snacks in your office, be prepared for it to be gone by the end of the day.
On a more serious note, Tim talked about the different scholarships that the club gives out. Sometimes when a parent expresses that money might be tight, the club will give the kiddo a scholarship to help the families.
The Boys and Girls Club's goal is to help kids and their family in many ways to help relieve some stress while the kids have fun!
