[ARCHIVED] Odessa Family Grieving after Teen Killed

Jr. Diaz

Jr. DiazFamily members are working to raise money for the funeral expenses of 16-year-old Jr. Diaz. He was shot and killed recently at an apartment complex in Odessa.
Jr. was visiting from North Carolina. He had lived in Odessa in the past. Family members describe him as quiet but say he had a big heart and was always willing to help other people. They also say he loved soccer. In fact, he already had a plane ticket booked to leave for Spain on August 7th for a soccer league.
As you can imagine, this is an emotional time for the family. They shed lots of tears while giving us some insight. They are a family of FAITH, and hope people will continue to PRAY for them. They say while this tragedy has been difficult, it has brought them closer together. Four others were also shot in this incident. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the tragedy, including our first responders.
Time and time again, we see our community unite to help one another no matter the circumstances.
OPD has nothing new to report at this time.
