Le Ann Howell and her daughter, Samantha Dellavedova, who lives in Tulsa, created a nonprofit more than a year ago called “We Create Warriors!”
“Had I not gotten away 27 years ago, I believe I wouldn’t be here today to continue to tell my story,” said Le Ann.
Le Ann says January 3rd marked the 27th Anniversary of her freedom from her abuser.
“I didn’t just leave him on this day; I ESCAPED the torture he chose to put me through. I would no longer wait for the next beating; I would instead have the chance at a life where my happiness and safety were important.”
Instead of just “surviving” her abuse and staying quiet, she shares her painful story to raise awareness. She also says this nonprofit is for women and men.
“Although most recorded cases are women, We Create Warriors also recognizes that men can fall victim to abuse, and we want to help them as well.”
Le Ann and her Navy Veteran daughter, Samantha Dellavedova, are in the picture. Samantha was once a victim of sexual assault. They also want to make sure active-duty veterans and civilians also receive help.
