Charges upgraded in the case of Daisy Cordero.

Daisy CorderoNew information: The Odessa Police Department says charges for 36 year old Daisy Cordero have been upgraded. She now has arrest warrants for:
•Leaving the scene of an accident involving death, 2nd degree felony
•Intoxication Manslaughter, 2nd degree felony

Cordero is at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. 

We always know there are lots of questions regarding these investigations. However, that is all we can release.

Two children injured in crash

Odessa Police Department - A child was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital with serious bodily injuries after a crash late Monday night. It happened at the intersection of Maple Ave and Grandview at around 11:17 p.m. 

Odessa Police responded to the area and while enroute was informed that one of the drivers was fleeing on foot from the scene. That driver was identified as 36 year old Daisy Cordero. She was detained by officers and witnesses identified her as the driver of the 2007 Lexus RX350. 

According to witnesses and facts at the scene, the Lexus was traveling northbound on Grandview when the driver rear ended a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. It was operated by 19 year old Nallely Mendoza of Odessa and was stopped at a red light. 

Two children were in the backseat. A one month old girl who suffered life-threatening injuries. A one year old boy and Mendoza were transported to Medical Center Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

Daisy Cordero has been charged with Intoxication Assault causing serious bodily injuries, 3rd Degree felony, Unlawful Carrying of Weapon, Class A misdemeanor, and Accident involving serious bodily injuries, 3rd Degree Felony, as well as bribery. Cordero was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. 

The investigation continues.
