[ARCHIVED] Being a Surrogate

Martina Marquez

Martina MarquezThis takes helping a friend to the next level.  Martina Marquez served as a Surrogate to a good friend who couldn’t get pregnant.

She told her, “That could be your angel!”

Martina knew all too well what it was like not being able to get pregnant.  She and her husband adopted a daughter because she had problems.  For ten years, Martina and that friend did IFV (in vitro) together.  Martina got pregnant, her friend miscarried a couple of times.  So, Martina offered to carry her baby and the rest is history!

That story is a taste of her kindness. She is so personable and we are thankful she is part of our “City of Odessa” Family. Martina Marquez is Downtown Odessa’s Executive Assistant.

Don’t be fooled by the blue eyes and blonde hair.  Even though she’s German, she speaks perfect Spanish.  She was always fascinated with Latin Culture and started teaching herself as a little girl. Here’s something else interesting.

“I always wanted to be Texan.”

Ever since she was young, Martina knew she wanted to live in the Lone Star State.  She grew up in Kansas and wanted to live in warmer weather.  She and her husband have now lived in Odessa for 18 years. She loves the city and the people here.  The Odessa employee treasures her family most.  She has 2 children and 4 grandchildren with whom she spends most of her time.

Martina and Downtown Odessa are planning the next big event, “Firecracker Fandango.”  Right now they are looking for volunteers.  You can give their office a call at 432-335-4682 or sign up online:  https://form.jotform.com/.../firecracker-fandango-volunteer.
