A reminder that National Police Week started yesterday, Sunday, May 14th. During this time, we honor the memory of U.S. law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving their communities.
You can also join in on paying tribute. We encourage everyone to replace their porch lights with blue bulbs beginning Sunday, May 14th, through Saturday, May 20th, to honor all police officers who were killed in the line of duty.
On Thursday, May 18th, 2023, the Odessa Police Department and Midland Police Department will hold a memorial service to honor all local officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The service begins at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 6801 East Highway 80, Odessa, TX. OPD and MPD will also honor the 10 officers and 1 K9 police dog who lost their lives in the line of duty this past year in Texas.
