[ARCHIVED] National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week - Sonya Cortez

Sonya Cortez

Sonya CortezFor 14 years, Sonya has worked for the City of Odessa.  Currently, she wears numerous hats.  She's a Quality Assurance Specialist, Custodian of Records and Background Investigator.  It's part of our Public Safety Communications Department.  She started that position four years ago. Prior to that, she was a dispatcher.

"Even if I’m not dispatching, I’m always looking for ways to recognize dispatchers and to provide them with feedback that will encourage continual growth, which improves the service we provide to our citizens."

She knows firsthand it's NOT an easy job!

"I would like to take this as an opportunity to thank all of our dispatchers for the truly difficult and stressful job they do 24 hours a day, every single day- weekends, bad weather, holidays, etc."

Sonya was born and raised here.  She loves that Odessans are so proud and encouraging when they see someone else from Odessa going on to do big things!

Thank you Sonya for your hard work and dedication to our city!
