[ARCHIVED] City Employee Spotlight - Scott Anderson

Scott Anderson

City of Odessa Employee – Scott Anderson

Scott Anderson is currently the Director of Building Services. But his work history goes way beyond that. Scott work in the Parks & Recreation department for 31 years and he was the Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation when he left to take over Building Services. He’s been with the City for a total of 34 years! He says he has worked alongside many dedicated employees over the years, and he sees the passion they have in providing services to our citizens.

Scott was born and raised in the great City of Odessa. After graduating from Odessa High School, Scott spent several years working in the West Texas oilfields. He left the oilfield during the oil bust of the 1980’s and begin working at Wolfe Nursery while attending classes at Odessa College.

Scott earned an Associate’s Degree in Management in 2003 and went onto earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Communications from Corbin College in Salem, Oregon.

He and his wife, Lisa, have one son, Trevor Scott. They consider Trevor a Blessing and a Miracle! He was born through an emotional and expensive IVF process. They say Trevor was worth every bit of it and that he continues to bring joy and happiness to the family every day. Scott and Lisa now have two grandsons, Waylon and Willie, who keep them busy during their visits to their grandparent’s home.

Scott says the City of Odessa has and will always continue to be, their home.  Looking back over his career, He has been able to be a part of many great things accomplished by the City organization, non-profits, and the generous citizens of our community. He wants to see the City continue to grow and prosper.  “Many stakeholders make this a great City to live and work. The recent completion of Fire Stations #6 & #9 are examples of the type of facilities we provide to the citizens.”

Scott says, “While oil and gas are the backbone of the Odessa economy, the true heartbeat of the community is its people.  After visiting other places, my favorite part is returning home.”
