The Holiday season starts with the City of Odessa’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, brought to you by First Basin Credit Union, on Thursday, December 1st at McKinney Park, 625 West Pool Road.
Entertainment starts at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Javier Joven will start the countdown to light up the City’s 50-foot-tall Christmas tree, school choirs will fill the air with the sounds of Christmas carols, hot chocolate will be served while supplies last and Santa Claus is planning a special visit.
The ceremony will be broadcasted on NewsWest9 starting at 6: 30 p.m.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony also serves as the official opening of Starbright Village, a winter wonderland of lighted Holiday scenes. Visitors can walk through an amazing array of twinkling lights and sparkling displays. This is the largest Holiday light display in the Permian Basin. Visitors travel from all over to see the spectacular lighted displays.
Only the walking trail will be open on December 1st. The Drive-Thru viewing will begin Friday,
December 2nd. Starbright Village will be open from December 1st through January 1, 2023 - 6 p.m.
